Seven Days Is Too Long - Chuck Wood

A couple of days ago I was in the car listening to Dexy's first album "Searching For The Young Soul Rebels" and was inspired to track down the original version of one of the best tracks, "Seven Days Too Long".

It turns out it's a bit of a Northern Soul classic, and I can see why. I always knew that Dexy's had a habit of finding great, but little-known songs to cover, so I'm going to do some more digging and see what other gems are lurking. I can see the Twisted Wheel and Wigan Casino broadening my musical horizons over the next few weeks.

In the meantime does anyone know anything about Chuck Wood? There's doesn't seem to be much out there about the man himself...

Lake Fever Sessions - The Features

Great stuff from their new album, "Some Kind Of Salvation". There are two other live videos from the same session - http://www.lakefeversessions.com/session/the-features/

I think they played some gigs in the UK earlier this year, but somehow I managed to miss them. Hopefully they will be back soon.

In the meantime you can listen to more here: http://www.myspace.com/thefeatures

Enjoy!

Britney in subliminal shocker

Sunshine Jones (link above) has posted some great examples of subliminal messages in well known songs when they're played backwards.

Led Zeppelin isn't a surprise, the Eagles sort of makes sense and Queen is slightly unexpected, but Britney?

Of course she must listen to her own songs quite a lot during rehearsals & appearances, so who knows how it affected her over the years. What are the odds on other songs referring to hammers and Philips LadyShave?

Anyway, I've not tried the originals for myself, but it sounds fairly convincing. And there must be other examples. Maybe Bryan Adams' blockbuster "Everything I Do" had a message designed to keep it at number one for months on end. I can think of no other reasonable explanation...
